About Étienne Calsac

In 2010, after completing his winemaking training, Étienne Calsac decided to start his own estate. He rented vineyards from his grandparents and settled in Avize. Chardonnay forms the core of his production, but he also has a keen interest in forgotten varieties like Arbane and Petit Meslier. His grapes are sourced from the Côte des Blancs, the Marne Valley, the Côte des Bar, and the Côte de Sézanne.

He works sustainably and with a strong focus on biodiversity and terroir. In the cellar, he ferments with indigenous yeasts, primarily in barrels, supplemented with a few cuvées in stainless steel. His champagnes clearly reflect their origins. In 2015, he and his winemaker friends founded the collective Des Pieds et des Vins during the Printemps des Champagnes.
