About David Léclapart

As early as 2000, David Léclapart obtained biodynamic certification for his three hectares of vineyards in Trépail, in the Montagne de Reims region. This elevated and cooler village is unique because it cultivates a significant amount of Chardonnay, in a region normally dominated by Pinot Noir. Léclapart considers himself more of a farmer than a winemaker and always starts from his plots.

His vineyards are spread across 22 plots, and he rarely uses blends. Many Champagnes come from a single vintage and a single vineyard. In the cellar, the wines are partially fermented and aged in used barrels, with spontaneous fermentation, permitted malolactic fermentation, and a very low dosage. The result is elegant, dry, and distinctly mineral, with fresh acidity and a savory, full-bodied character.
