Étienne Calsac
In 2010, Étienne Calsac, who had trained as a winemaker, decided to set up his own domaine and rented vineyards from his grandparents.
His estate is located in Avize and mainly produces Chardonnay, but he also has a passion for the forgotten grape varieties of Champagne, such as Arbane and Petit-Meslier.
Its grapes come from the terroirs of Côte des Blancs, Marne Valley, Côte des Bar and Côte de Sézanne.
Its viticulture is sustainable and focuses on the well-being of the different terroirs and stimulates biodiversity.
The vinification is done using indigenous yeasts, mainly in barrels but there are also cuvées using stainless steel. His champagnes are a reflection of the terroir.
Étienne Calsac is an innovative and unifying winemaker. In 2015, he founded the collective 'Des Pieds et des Vins' with winemaker friends as part of the Printemps des Champagnes event. The aim of this collective is to bring together winemakers who share the same philosophy.
