Champagne house Dehours & fils is located in Cerseuil (Mareuil-le-Port), a village on the southern bank halfway along the Marne Valley, which stretches west of Épernay.
This valley is mainly planted with the Meunier grape: it is a late-budding grape that is well resistant to spring frost, which occurs regularly in this area.
Winemaker Jerôme Dehours, a fourth-generation winemaker, has extensive experience with Meunier: approximately two-thirds of his plantings consist of this grape variety.
The estate's vineyards are spread over 42 parcels between the villages of Mareuil-le-Port, Troissy, and Oeuilly. Viticulture is environmentally friendly, and no chemicals are used. In addition to Meunier, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, and Petit Meslier are planted here.
With differences in soil type, altitude, age, sun exposure, and grape variety, they form the richly varied base material for this house's Champagnes.
